Progression Fair

As part of our commitment to ensuring students have outstanding careers guidance and all the information they need to make good decisions about their next steps in training and education, students from the Life Sciences UTC and The Studio School took part in a Post-16 Progression Fair this week. Students had the opportunity to meet with other 25 training providers and colleges to think more about their next steps in education.

The Progression Fair helped students to understand the different routes they can take when leaving school, and allowed them to ask questions and explore each option. Students had the chance to network with specialist engineering and healthcare apprenticeship providers as well as colleges from across the region.

Arsany Kanawaty from Year 11 in the Life Sciences school said “The day has been interesting and beneficial. It gives other ideas of how we can study and subjects available to us. I think it is always good to think about other options rather than just one path”.

Adam Hughes, Year 11 student at The Studio said “It has allowed me to see what different universities and colleges there are out there and gave me more of an idea what I to do”.

The fair included stands from Aldi, KGV College, Birkenhead Sixth Form College, Liverpool FC Foundation College and many more.

Dr Frank McCann, Principal at South Sefton College said “I always find coming to the UTC delightful because young people here are very clear in what their aspirations are and what they want to achieve. They ask all the right questions and listen”.

For some of our exhibiters, it was their first time at the UTC and for others it was a returning visit.

First time guest Malcom Williams, Course Deliverer and School Liaison Officer at TTE, said “The day has been brilliant. One thing I have noticed is how friendly, warm and focussed the students here are. They are so articulate”.

We will continue to hold these events to show our students all the options out there for them, and help them to make sure they are getting one that is right for them. We would like to thank all our exhibitor’s for attending and look forward to welcoming them again in the future.
