A group of students have attended the Model United Nations (MUN) conference at Atlantic College in Wales.
The United World Conference was held on the 28th – 30th January and invited key external speakers and twenty students from the Associated Schools Programme partner schools in Birmingham, Liverpool and South Wales.
Three students currently in Year 11 at The Studio were invited to take on the role of delegates and represent different countries from across the globe. They debated topics ranging from political or economical issues to environmental controversies.
Year 11 student Redd attended the visit and said:
“The Model United Nations meeting really increased my international political understanding and I would definitely attend the conference again!”
Principal of The Studio Mr McInerney accompanied the students on the visit with Spanish Teacher Miss Mallo. She said:
“Our students gained a greater understanding of global issues and had the chance to improve the negotiation skills necessary in international relations. They enjoyed a whole variety of conferences and speeches, but moreover they had fun meeting young people from all over the world”.
