Remembrance Assembly at The Kingsway Academy

Last week, we held our annual remembrance assembly at The Kingsway Academy to pay our respects to the servicemen and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for their country.

All students and staff gathered in the hall, where we were treated to performances from the school choir, a brilliant recital of John McCrae’s famous poem, In Flanders Field, and a lovely composed piano piece from a Year 10 student.

One of our current students who is a member of the local army cadets played a special role in the assembly. Along with another member of staff, he laid a wreath under one of two plaques in the hall which commemorate previous Kingsway students who fought and died in World War One and Two.

At 11 o’clock a two minutes silence was held impeccably by all.
