Royal Marines Visit

This week Royal Marines came into the Academy to speak to Year 11, 12 and 13 students completing the Public Service BTEC course.

During their visit they gave a presentation about the opportunities available in the Royal Marines, as well as the training students will need to complete to ensure a successful career with them. This was then followed by a training session conducted by the Royal Marine physical training instructor which gave students an idea of the fitness levels needed to join.

Students thoroughly enjoyed the session commenting “my legs are killing but it was really enjoyable seeing what the Marines have to do every day” from Kieran and “I want to join the Marines so I found the visit really useful. I have already started my application so it’ll help me with my training” said Owen.

Teacher, Mr Smith, who organised the trip said “It was a great opportunity for the students to have an insight into life in the armed forces. It gives them knowledge about how they need to prepare themselves physically and mentally.”
