Slippery Slopes

Students from a local Academy Trust joined together for the first time to reach new heights on their latest excursion to The Austrian Alps.

Around 40 pupils and five staff from the Northern Schools Trust made the epic coach journey across six countries to enjoy the delights of skiing during their Spring Term Break in Zell am See, Austria.

Staying at a typically Austrian guest house in the quaint village of picturesque Piesendorf the Kingsway Academy, Studio and Life Sciences students’ united to enjoy a pleasure-packed holiday on the piste and beyond.

The ups and downs of skiing were the main order of the day with all students being treated to individualised professional instruction during their skiing lessons throughout the week on the snow-covered slopes of Schmitten and Kitzsteinhorn.

In the evenings students were also treated to a range of fun activities including luxuriating in the thermal pools and grottos of the exclusive spa at Tauern to learning how to play Austrian bowls. The adventurers also enjoyed fine dining on the lakeside, shopping in the beautiful town of Zell Am See and a highly competitive quiz night.

After such an action-packed and pleasurable week-long itinerary students and staff alike were more than ready for the sleep-filled return journey home.
