Our Year Eight students received a visit from ‘Splinter’, one of Liverpool’s foremost design companies. Splinter specialise in Web design and are known for their educational games, having created much of the content on the BBC’s Bitesize site which is popular with students of all ages.
Managing Director Chris Beer and Studio manager Rachael Boden came to talk to our students about the early stages of game design. Our creative students gave them valuable feedback on their initial plans for a browser game designed to encourage young people to go to university. Students also worked on designing avatars, some of which may end up featured in the final game.
Splinter have promised to come back for a follow up visit to show our students the game that they helped to develop.
‘Mr Bond and his year 8 form have helped Splinter with the styling and development of ten interactive games. The class were extremely welcoming and honest with their opinions on how to improve the range of games that will assist students with making their career choices. We would love to come back, If you’ll have us, with the game prototypes and once again ask for your opinions. Thank you and we hope to see you soon, Rachael and Chris from Splinter’.
