This week, four students from Life Sciences UTC attended a Unilever and All about STEM celebration and assessment day at Hulme Hall, Port Sunlight.
Prior to the event, students were delighted to be invited to work on an influential and internationally recognised programme – the Unilever Bright Future project. Unilever Bright Future is a platform that helps unite and amplify the efforts of a growing community of people who believe it is possible to build a world where everyone lives well and lives sustainably. The challenge set was to produce an ethical bar of soap from scratch that would encourage children in developing countries to wash their hands more often. The winning group would then be invited to Port Sunlight for the celebration day.
Over fifteen different schools from across the North West attended the celebration day and the atmosphere was electric. Although the overall prize was much coveted, our students didn’t go home empty handed and were delighted to have picked up the innovation award for the most original idea on the day.
A huge congratulations to Samela, Lauren, Gouma and Peter on winning your prize which is now proudly on show in the UTC display cabinet! We’d also like to offer a big thank you to All about STEM and Unilever for running such an exciting project and inspiring our budding young professionals.
