The CEO of international music festival Sound City paid a visit to The Studio this month to showcase what has grown to become the largest music, digital and film festival in the UK. Dave Pichilingi from Sound City spoke to our students about how integral the digital sector is to the music industry, and also shared some exciting news about an upcoming collaborative competition being hosted by Sound City.
The Sound City App Challenge offers students the opportunity to take part in a competition which requires them to develop an innovative concept for a mobile application. Selected teams will then be invited to present their work in front of industry experts, delegates and investors, with the winning idea receiving support that will allow the team to build their idea and bring the concept to life.
The Studio has been invited to compete alongside seven other UK institutions in the nationwide competition, which will place our students head to head with development teams from across the country. With teams entering from numerous universities, the competition will be high, but we are extremely confident that our students will do us proud and come up with a great idea to submit for the winning spot. Mr Pichilingi also spoke highly of our students during his visit to the school, explaining;
“Through the Sound City App Challenge, we’re hoping to be able to find the new tech innovators of tomorrow from those students taking part. We’re extremely pleased that The Studio School are involved as we believe that they are developing the next generation of entrepreneurs with the very best ideas.”
He went on to say; “There are no rules anymore. The old bureaucracy is defunct. With the right tech innovation, the route to market is easier than it has ever been before. We look forward to seeing what ideas they develop and which team will make it through to the Awards Final at Liverpool Sound City on Thursday 1st May.”
