World Cup Trip

Twenty-five North Liverpool Academy students have travelled to Manchester City’s newly opened, state of the art football academy to watch the England ladies team take on China.

The game was the final warm-up game before the squad departs for the World Cup in Canada.

England dominated throughout and held off a late onslaught from China. The carnival atmosphere created by the 5,665 strong crowd roared England on to see out a thrilling encounter, winning 2-1.

The students were given a free ticket as a reward having been regular attendees of the school’s football enrichment project, ‘The Football Mash-up’ – a project ran in partnership with The FA aimed at keeping young people involved in football.

Mr Metcalf said “To get to see the national side in action is a great experience and contributes towards our commitment to offering our students a broad, rich and varied curriculum. The students were impeccably behaved throughout and an absolute credit to our school.”
