Year 7 PGL Adventure

This year we took 175 of our new year 7 students on our annual pilgrimage to Shropshire to visit the PGL centre at Boreatton Park.
The purpose of our year 7 induction camp is for our new students to get to know each other in a challenging but fun environment. The students get to take part in activities ranging from zip wires to raft building, archery or abseiling.
The students were organised into house groups so that they could get to know each other and also introduce a competitive element regarding the house GEMS (problem solving, creativity, determination, teamwork, risk taking and reflection).
Although the weather was rubbish it did not dampen the spirits of the groups as they started to bond as a year group. This culminated in the students (and staff!!) busting some great moves during the disco on the last night at camp. This trip is always fun, challenging and even the students who were a little homesick, had an amazing time, as the photos demonstrate.
Trip leader Mr Fry said “by the end of the week, most of our new students were already beginning to demonstrate some of our core values that are essential not only for success in the Academy, but life in general.”
We look forward to spending the rest of this term getting to know this new Year 7 group. Welcome to the Academy!
